A program highlight for opera lovers, a kind of crescendo, is the concert featuring one of today’s most promising young sopranos, Serena Saenz. At the gala concert in Kamerlengo Tower on July 29th, she will be joined by baritone Jaka Mihelač accompanied by the Croatian ensemble Acoustic Project Strings, and the evening will be complemented by a dramatic recital performed by actor Trpimir Jurkić. This intriguing collaboration arose from a desire to offer something new and interesting to the audience in Trogir, and the selection of soprano Serena Saenz is the result of careful monitoring of the international opera scene where Saenz is recognized as an award-winning rising star; “Musicality, good taste in ornamentation, and brilliant high tones with a good arsenal of bel canto resources.“
Slovenian baritone Jaka Mihelač is a frequent guest at the Berlin State Opera, while members of the Acoustic Project Strings ensemble are recognized Croatian musicians who, in addition to accompanying the soloists, will present instrumental intermezzos. Composers Mozart, Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi, Gounod, Korngold, and Lehár are featured in the repertoire of this string ensemble. The concert concept and collaboration among musicians were created exclusively for the festival’s needs and as such, add value to the artistic expression of the festival.
