September 3 – 14, 2024 | TROGIR CITY MUSEUM
The opening of the exhibition “Return” by Doris Sapunar Bengtsson will take place at the exhibition space of the Trogir City Museum on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 8:30 PM.
“Doris’ works reflect emotional aspects and inner states, revealing deeper layers of reality that often remain invisible,” states senior curator Aleksandra Bilić Petričević in the exhibition’s introduction. For example, “The installation Dialogue, composed of several stone sculptures, clearly shows the strong influence of Trogir’s centuries-old stone masterpieces, particularly the cathedral, on Doris’ artistic sensibility. The central seat is made of semi-transparent light alabaster stone, which fully showcases its lace-like structure. Doris enriched her installation with light, creating a magical play of light and shadow. In contrast to the whiteness and transparency of the alabaster, the seats are made of black granite. These contrasts actually represent the essential human substance, life itself, which is constantly intertwined with various opposites. In addition to sculptures, Doris also presents herself through interesting drawings. With linear richness, she grades shades from light gray to deep black, creating dynamic and unusual compositions…”
The exhibition of paintings and sculptures will be on display until September 14, 2024, and can be viewed from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
We look forward to your visit!
